III. ProAdjustor

What is the ProAdjustor?

Why is the Pro-Adjuster so special?

It uses space age technology to determine if each segment/spinal vertebrae is in proper alignment, so the nervous system is free to effectively transport nerve impulses throughout your body. The Pro-Adjuster uses the same type of technology that allows engineers to determine and handle weakness and stress on spacecraft.

Pro-Adjuster technology has been successful at treating a host of conditions. It has also been helpful in getting results that can be verified by you and the doctor right on the spot. Many times people will live with conditions because they don't know there is an alternative. Treatment with the Pro-Adjuster is effortless and painless. You can enjoy these benefits in your daily life!

How does the ProAdjustor work?

The Pro-Adjuster's sophisticated computer analysis is used to pinpoint problem areas. The information is then charted graphically on a computer monitor, so your doctor can detect the problem areas on each and every visit. The Doctor will now begin treatment with the Pro-Adjuster. By applying the Pro-Adjuster's Resonant Force Impulses precisely to the affected areas, you will receive gentle, effective treatment to that specific area, reducing the subluxation.  The Doctor may again take the readings after the adjustment with the Pro-Adjuster to compare the results.

What does the ProAdjustor feel like?

The Pro-Adjustor feels like a gentle tapping on your back for both the analysis of spinal problems and for the treatment of the problems it helps the doctor find.

Why is the ProAdjustor used?

It is used for the general treatment of spinal subluxation as a chiropractic adjustment.  It works to accomplish the same goals as a manual adjustment (done by hand) with much less force.  Patients who are adverse to manual adjustments, the very old, very young or patients with contraindications to manual  adjustments may receive great benefit from this type of adjustment.

ProAdjustor also has protocols for conditions such as headache, sinus trouble and sciatica utilizing pressure points that have been found to be very effective.

Patient Benefits

·    Fast, effective treatment

·    Computer  analysis of problems

·    Gentle therapy

·    Proven effectiveness

·    FDA cleared

·    Insurance accepted

IV. Cryotherapy (Cold Therapy/Icing)

Cryotherapy is a term that describes the application of ice, cold towels, ice massage and compression to reduce the temperature of tissues directly on or below the surface of the skin.

How does Cryotherapy work?

Surface cooling restricts blood vessels, numbs painful areas and helps relax muscle spasms.  Cold temperatures reduce nerve transmissions of painful symptoms and provide temporary relief.

What does Cryotherapy feel like?

Ice is most often used to manage acute injuries or recent eruptions of chronic conditions.   Cooling affected tissues is effective in reducing and preventing posttraumatic swelling.  Local cooling should be applied several times a day in 20-minute sessions during the initial stages of an injury.

Why is Cryotherapy used?

Cryotherapy is inexpensive, readily available and an easy way to reduce local swelling of inflamed tissues.

Patient Benefits

·   Helps reduce swelling and inflammation

·   Numbs affected area to reduce pain

·   Reduces muscle spasms

·   Inexpensive and can be self-applied

V. Superficial Heat

What is Superficial Heat?

Hot packs, warm moist towel, heating pads, water bottles, Hydrobed tables and infrared lamps are often used to help raise the temperature of soft tissue directly below the surface of the skin.

How does Superficial Heat work?

Heat applied to the surface of the skin enlarges blood vessels below the surface, relaxing tissues and can temporarily relieve painful symptoms. Increasing circulation and relaxing muscles is helpful before or after chiropractic adjustments, exercises and other treatments.

When should Superficial Heat be used?

Heat is usually used for the relaxation of tissue in spasm and temporary relief of the symptoms associated with chronic pain and muscle tightness.  Heat can be used in 20-minute sessions to increase blood flow to speed healing, but never when in an acute situation or recent injury, and never over an open wound.

Why is Superficial Heat used?

Using heat to calm tissue suffering from long term spasms or irritation is an easy way to increase flexibility, range of motion and promote increased circulation to speed the healing process.

Patient Benefits

·    Helps increase circulation

·    Relaxes muscle tissue

·    Reduces joint stiffness

·    Prepares tissue for rehabilitation

·    Widely available and inexpensive

·    Increases speed of healing

VI. Massage

What is a Massage?

Massage is a term describing a variety of techniques using the hands, mechanical or electrical apparatus to stimulate or soothe soft tissue of the body for therapeutic purposes.

There are many types of massage including acupressure ("Shiatsu"), deep tissue ("Swedish Massage") and myofascial release. Massage may benefit patients with sprains or strains and other soft tissue conditions. If the muscles that support the spine are tight and dehydrated, they will pull the vertebrae out of correct position. Therefore, massage therapy and chiropractic treatments work very well in realigning the body.

Acupressure

The practitioner uses his hands and fingers to apply steady pressure to specific body points (meridians, acupressure points). This type of massage stimulates circulation to help remove toxins and promote healing.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage works to increase the flow of lymphatic fluid. The practitioner uses her fingers, thumbs and elbows to work into the muscles and connective tissue. The lymphatic fluid helps to maintain the body's fluid balance and protect against infection.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is a sheath of connective tissue that supports muscles, bone, and organs. Stress from injury or poor posture causes the fascia to tighten. As the fascia constricts, muscles and bones may be pulled out of place causing pain. The practitioner uses his fingers, palms, elbows and forearms to firmly and gently stretch the fascia.

How does a Massage work?

Massage works by kneading and stroking muscles to relax them, and uses friction to stimulate soft tissue.  This therapy can increase blood and lymph circulation while breaking up scar tissue between muscle fibers.

What does a Massage feel like?

Therapeutic massage and its effect vary with each individual. Massage is usually relaxing and releases muscle tension and stress.  It also helps to release muscles in spasm and relieve the pain associated with a cramped muscle.

Why is Massage used?

Massage is useful in many conditions in which body relaxation, the reduction of swelling and muscle mobilization is desired.  Massage can be helpful in overcoming the swelling and pooling of fluids at the site of recent injury or trauma. It also relaxes you in order to deliver a gentler adjustment and allows the adjustment to ‘hold’ better.

Patient Benefits

·  Enhances joint and muscle function

·   Improves circulation

·   Increases metabolism

·   Promotes the healing process

·   Relaxes the body for adjustment

·   Aids in the efficacy of the adjustment

 VII. Electro-Muscle Stimulation (EMS)

What is Electro-Muscle Stimulation?

It is a special form of electrical current that is administered at the site of soft tissue injury, especially muscles, for the blocking of pain and reducing muscle spasm.

How does Electro-Muscle Stimulation work?

Small amounts of electrical current are induced into the tissue for the purpose of reducing swelling.  This widely used technique safely strengthens muscles and helps reduce painful symptoms.

What does Electro-Muscle Stimulation feel like?

Patients generally feel a slight tingling sensation at first.  Since your body may become accustomed to the initial setting, the intensity may be raised during the course of your 10-20 minute treatment, for maximum healing effect.

Why is Electro-Muscle Stimulation used?

Electro-Muscle Stimulation has been used as an effective form of pain relief.  It is recommended in cases in which pain is accompanied by swelling and inflammation.

Patient Benefits

·    Reduces pain sensation

·    Helps decrease swelling

·    Promotes general muscle tone

·    Speeds the healing process

·    Decreases muscle spasm

VIII. Intersegmental Traction

What is Intersegmental Traction?

It is a way of introducing passive motion into the spine for the purpose of stretching spinal joints, increasing mobility.

How does Intersegmental Traction work?

The patient lies face up on a bench table which has roller type cams beneath its surface.  These rollers can slowly travel the length of the spine, stretching spinal joints and introducing motion to individual spinal segments.

What does Intersegmental Traction feel like?

Most patients find us form of treatment to be relaxing and very helpful.  The gentle rolling action is restful, exercising the spine without effort.  This often feels like a spinal massage.

Why is Intersegmental Traction used?

Since desks have a poor blood supply, they get nutrients from the circulation of fluids surrounding spinal joints.  Fixations prevent this national circulation and can cause desk thinning and degeneration.  Intersegmental traction helps increase and restore necessary elasticity and motion to the spine.  This in turn can slow down and help to prevent degenerative disc disease.

Patient Benefits

· comfortable and relaxing

· Increased mobility

·  Improve circulation of spinal fluids

·  Improves disc health

  IX. Flexion-Distraction

What is Flexion-Distraction?

Flexion-Distraction, (F/D) is a gentle, chiropractic treatment procedure utilized for back and neck pain. Flexion-Distraction is a safe alternative to back surgery for those 95% of patients whose conditions do not demand surgical intervention.

Flexion-Distraction is utilized for many conditions such as:

·   Failed Back surgical Syndromes

·   Disc Herniation/Ruptured Disc / Bulging Disc / Herniated Disc

·   Sciatica / Leg pain

·   "Whiplash" injuries

·    Stenosis

·    Arm Pain

·    Neck Pain

·    Failed course of Steroid Injections

·    Chemical Radiculitis

·    Spondylolisthesis

·    Headache

How does Flexion-Distraction work?

It relieves back and leg pain and neck and arm pain. It is a well-researched (with research studies completed and underway), well-referenced (with over 90+ articles in medical and chiropractic journals) chiropractic spinal adjusting manipulation

Flexion-Distraction drops pressures in the disc to negative 192 mmHg and increases the foraminal area by 28%. By doing this, it stops pain, realigns the spine and restores ranges of motion to the spine while reducing low back pain, especially in radiculopathy (extremity pain--leg pain or arm pain) patients, better than active exercise therapy.

What does Flexion-Distraction feel like?

As you lie face down on the table, the table flexes you downward, gently stretching your back, distracting (pulling apart) your spine, allowing it to relax and stretch.

Why i s Flexion-Distraction used?

95% of back pain and neck pain patients DO NOT require surgery.

Flexion-Distraction is a safe alternative to back surgery. It is also appropriate for failed back surgery patients who still suffer after surgery.

Patient Benefits

For Disc related conditions:

·    Increases the intervertebral disc height to remove annular tension on the annular fibers and nerve by making more room and improving circulation.

·    Allows the center of the disc, to assume its central position within the annular fibers and relieves irritation of the spinal nerve.

·    Restores vertebral joints to their normal motion.

·    Improves posture and movement while relieving pain, improving body functions, and creating a state of well-being.

For Non-Disc related conditions:

Patients with other conditions causing back pain (facet syndrome, spondylolisthesis, sprain/strain, scoliosis, transitional vertebra, sacroiliac restrictions and misalignment, certain types of spinal stenosis), Flexion/Distraction provides all of the above benefits plus the ability to place the spinal joints into normal, painless movements so as to restore spinal motion without pain:

·         The posterior disc space increases in height.

·         F/D reduces stenosis.

·         Flexion increases nutrient transport into the disc.

·         Flexion opens the joints and reduces posterior disc stress

·          Intradiscal pressure drops under distraction.

·         Takes pressure off of the nerves that hurt.
